What to you guy think I have 3 Radion led's would you them front to back or side to side the tank is 60x24x24 am getting the radions lens on tue. Plz let be know also think of there rail system but I have DIY steel one that 48" and the led's are put side to side let me know plz

I don't have anything to go on other then what I read, but I would put them sideways or so the two pucks go front to back rather then side to side. I don't think it will make much difference either way though, it's not like you will awesome growth and color "this way" and everything DIES "that way".

LOL!

It won't make a drastic difference if you hang it this way or that way. The Radion has excellent spread, and looking at the chart published, it covers a 30x30 area pretty evenly. That even coverage means it won't matter which way you put it.

I have six Radions over a 300 gallon DD tank. Look at it this way: your tank is 60" x 24". Divide that into 3 equal sections, and each Radion has a 24" x 20" area to light. So you may want to run the Radions lengthwise front to back, one for each 20" of tank length. That way the light is lighting the longer 24" front to back length. Like this: l l l vs. this: _ _ _

sps corals mostly and my tank does not have center brace so it open the tank is60x24x24 and its open 55 1/2 x 19

I would say you'll be fine with three. They also have a new lens for the radion that adds more par. You may want to look into the new lens if you want to add more par.

I have the exact same dimension 150gal tank and I'm running 3 radion. I'm running them side by side ---

here you go

Radions at best cover a 24 x 24 area, not 30 x 30.

I'm saying you are wrong but Ecotech claims the it covers a 30x30 area. Just like any light the outer part of the spread won't be the strongest par but it can support lower light corals on the outer part of the spread.

I have 3 over a 72x24x24, side to side - each is lighting a 2'x2' section of the tank. I don't think the orientation will matter for light spread, as it's a pretty even square patch of illumination.

A couple things to keep in mind, the controls are facing the "front" when mounted left-right, so if you turn them front-back, that would make them (more) awkward to use. Mounted left-right, the USB port is on the left, so that would be facing front or back if you turn them.

Not trying to make a big deal of this, but you don't want to be spreading misinformation to Reefers that don't know any better. You are using the PAR distribution graph and interpreting that as EcoTech's coverage claim. They are not the same. They include the 30 x 30 measurement in the graph to show the complete light spread. From the original product announcement (look at the bottom):

EcoTech Marine Introduces the Radion XR30w LED Light

EcoTech Marine is proud to announce our latest product, the Radion XR30w LED light.

True to EcoTech Marine design standards, the functionality of Radion matches its sleek aesthetic. Created with the most discerning hobbyist in mind, the Radion includes top quality Cree and Osram LEDs and features fully adjustable color and intensity.

The Radion represents what we believe will be the next step for aquarium lighting: a smarter, easier to use, and more energy efficient alternative to existing lighting products. Our hope is that our customers will enjoy the extensive thought and care put into the design of every feature, function, and the distinctive appearance of the Radion.

Radion was purpose-built to be upgradeable both through its modular driver and LED cluster design, modular optics, as well as its USB firmware.

Our goal was to deliver a product with the ability to evolve and get better over time– and not become obsolete. As technology moves forward, the Radion will be upgraded with new functionality in addition to what it has right out of the box.

Radion is an innovative addition to the EcoTech Marine line of VorTech pumps and aquarium products. With advanced features packed into an efficient and stylish product, the Radion is an LED that looks every bit as good as it performs.

Radion will be available by the end of October through EcoTech Marine’s network of retail outlets around the country and will debut at the upcoming MACNA trade show in Des Moines, IA on September 9.
