I'm considering purchasing Ecotech Radion lights for my 180 gallon tank. My dilemma is of course the price. I will need 3 to cover my 6 ft opening. Anybody happy with these, are they worth the $2000 I will have to put out? My tanks is mostly LPS and a few SPS, the LPS grow great with my Chinese boxes, but the SPS seem to grow very slowly.

I'm very happy with my Radions over my 233.
I bought them as gen 1's and this year did the gen 3 upgrade.
I'm very happy I did. Love the color and all my corals are looking pretty good.

When I bought the 3 gen 1's, it was $1800. My wife was pretty unhappy with me spending our tax return money ( a mutual mis-understanding).
But after a few months with a new power bill that was $60 a month cheaper, plus not spending $370 a year in mh and vho bulbs, she came around too.

I'm with you jayman don't fix what's not broken , I have a tank with t5 I have a tank with led both grow coral great but I would never change the lighting on either one from what they are now... and the Chinese fixtures can grow sps just fine there could be 500 reasons besides the lighting on why they seem to be growing slow I wouldn't put out 2k for new lighting just cause some sps seem to be growing slow but all about what float's your boat

You can pick up gen3 used for 250ish I got mine 6mths old never more than 35% power for 225 from craigslist

Extremely happy with the G3Pros. I had a G1 and updated that to 3Pro and what a world of difference a couple LEDs make!
I'm running two on my 75.

I have 3 generation 2 pros if intersted. They are over a 180 now and have good spread and definitely more than enough par. I have never had mine above 65% on the reef radiance schedule on a predominately sps reef.

Yeah, I see your point. Thanks for the info.

So much more control over your light with Radions. I have had Chinese fixtures and have seen club members tanks with them. You just can't dial them in as well as with Radions. Love mine. I have used every light out there or no someone who has over the last 30 plus years of reef keeping
