I’m dosing very small amounts into my reef tank, but I often don’t see the drops going into the sump.
It seems there’s air in the lines; is that normal? Do I have to fill the lines with the dosing liquid by manually dosing a larger amount? (NOT into the aquarium!)
Also, does the unit have to be placed above the end of the output line?

You will want to bleed the lines of air bubbles. I did this by placing the the dosing “OUT” line back into the solution bottle while manually turning the pumps till all the air was removed. Then set back to “HOME POSITION”. Keep in mind that you will see air in the lines if your container you‘re pulling from is sealed tight. You can avoid this by keeping the cap loose, or poking a few holes at the top to make sure there is no pressure build up = air in your lines.

I dose small amounts as well, using the SMART setup mode - I think the minimum dose over the SMART setups is 2ml. If you‘re doing less than that, or want to do say… 1ml 4 times through the day/night, then setup through custom- i.e. 1ml @ 9:00am-9:00:15am…. This setup will dose one time taking 15 sec to add 1ml… then apply more to your schedule as needed.
