If I'm a blip on your radar, then you would know that I always felt that the hobby was missing out on a quality all in one peristaltic pump. A "one stop shop" so to speak for our reefing needs. I was so thrilled when I heard that Ecotech was developing what I hoped to be the solution.

If you knew that, you would also know that I got an early version of the pump and was so eager to share it that I gave too much away too soon. Now that the pump has been shipped to retailers, I find it fitting to finally share a few things about the Versa that has gotten this tech geek so fired up.

I hope that you get as excited as I am about it.. Enoy!!!

Looks like a nice pump. So is it rated for continuous use? Dies it feel solid and well made? The thing I’ve always liked about ETM is that they purpose build most of their stuff rather than repurposing off the shelf designs (vectra excepted).

It definitely can run continuously, prior to them updating the Mobius I had it running continuously at 375 ml/min, they since throttled it back to 200. For the size of it, it definitely feels solid/well built. The clever way they adopted the planetary gear reduction makes it ideal for smooth operation. Reef Builders put out a cool video detailing the amount of thought that went into it. I had no idea how much they do in house...

Hey so i was reading a ecotech info pamphlet on it and it says it can be used as an ato pump in continuous mode by setting the speed then using a controller to switch power on and off. My question for you is this. When you unplug it in continuous mode does it “park” itself back at “home position” or just shut off? Curious how this effects performance...

Great question, if you were to use the versa in that manner you lose the ability to have the pump "park". The second the power goes off, the pump stops in what ever position the rotor was in. However this is interesting, upon power up the pump parked before restarting constant mode.

Although accuracy isn't a concern when using it as an ATO, you simply lose that feature of the pump.

Here's something that I heard through the grapevine, sounds like they're working on some sort of ATO accessory for the Versa....

Thanks, i hope they come out with something soon! Would love to have this pump for ato. Any concern with using it on a controller like that? Do you think shutting it on and off is bad for it? I was considering using it with the avast marine ato system...

Quite honestly, I can't see any harm that would come to the pump by routinely turning on/off the power.

Can you provide a link to that pamphlet? outside of info on the retail sites, I can't find much info.

To extend this question a bit further, I think this could be used as ATO in this way but without a sensor you're dosing a preset volume. I would imagine there will be changes in rates of evaporation in the tank based on season unless your home is constant humidity and temp which might alter the accuracy of this as an ATO. Has anybody gave this any thought?

Agreed. Running top off pumps based on timers is very 2007 ;Bored
