just received a new westside for my MP40. i have the ES and was told the new wetsides are good for all mp40 models.
first off, when i opened it, the blade itself seems very tight, almost have to force it to spin. unlike my old ones.

when i install it in my tank, the magnet seemed a little weak and when i went to start it, both the wet and the dry side jump off the tank.

is there a setup difference when using the new styled wetside like changing/removing the spacer. adjusting the glass thickness setting.

im hoping its something simple

I would suggest taking the westside apart and inspect it. It seems as though the new wet side is defective.

unless im missing something it doesn't look physically defective, but is very tight to spin. it does not spin freely :|

Have you completely opened it up....popped the three tabs, pulling the impeller off the shaft?

If nothing is obvious, since it's new, contact the distributor you purchased from or Ecotech directly.

I physically took one of my spare wetsides and tried spinning the impeller. I can move it freely, but the weight/inertia of the magnet is definitely felt. Holding the outer blades and giving it a spin, it might rotate 2 1/2 to 3 times before coming to a stop.

I have popped it open.. and looks fine

Also, it has some lube on it from factory, maybe not enough?

Mine makes it 1/4 turn..

Usually when mine blow off the glass the impeller is froze and the wet side is thrown off the glass.

Make sure you don’t have any debris in it and she spins smooth.

It has a round magnet that looks like a flywheel of sorts. Has vents around that to let water in.

I have to open and clean mine anytime it hits my black hawiian sand.

Very easy to take apart a and clean.

Something is not right. Contact Ecotech or the retailer you purchased from.

Just happened to be playing in the tank. Short vid for you. If you take it all the way down and its clean inside I would follow what redfishbluefish had said to do.
