Hi I currently have one Red Sea led 50 and wanted more coverage and wondering if 2 50s be better than 1 xr30 g4 for coverage and better overall

new red led 50 is $350 not included tax CAD currents.

A used xr g4 is $450 with arm
So both pretty much same price and within my budget

What are you trying to grow and what size is your tank?

Mainly lps, 34 gallon 20”x20”x24

I’m getting shades at middle and bottom on the sides of tank unless I move my current Red Sea 50 more towards one side

some sps on top

You can see there’s a lot lighter shade on both sides that I like to have corals and not receiving lights. I placed zoas on bottom left and heads were extending up really long but opened up so I moved the zoas to wait for light upgrade

I have used RS 90s, XR 15s and XR 30s. IMO, the XR 30 may be a bit overkill for your tank as you will have to turn the output down..but you would have more spread. Have you considered RS 90 upgrade over the RS 50, are the mounting brackets the same for both?

Take a look at the RS PAR graphs and see if a RS 90 gives you the little extra punch you are looking for.

Thanks! A new 90 would be 499.
I don’t mind tuning the xr30 down so led would last longer as long better coverage.
So I guess I’ll go with the xr30 route since i saw lots of tanks using them and have such good lighting quality in the pictures
