Anyone using ecoxotic Panorama LED Module

If so
likes?
dislikes?
how many modules
tank size
pictures?
any ideas comments etc etc...

I am also looking for some user experiences with the Ecoxotic Panorama fixtures. I am in the process of setting up a 120g (48x24x24) and seriously considering the Ecoxotic fixtures and Stunner LED strips for an SPS tank.

What little information I have been able to find usually puts people in two distinct camps. Those that have or have used LED's say they aren't exactly MH replacements but very capable of supporting a SPS tank. Those that don't have them typically recommend other solutions.

I'm still on the fence but may take the plunge in the next few weeks. Until then, I'll keep doing my homework.

I'm beginning to source parts/fixtures for a 135 setup, and have decided to go LED. I've had a DIY LED array over my 12g Nanocube for about a year now, and love the color, shimmer, and lack of heat it produces. It's only 11 3w LED's, but it is MUCH brighter than the 150w viper hqi it replaced. I am getting good growth from my sps, although some of them a re mad b/c they get too much light.

I had been thinking of going the DIY route, but I've heard good things about Aquaillumination fixtures, so I ordered one as a test unit. It arrived a few days ago, and I played around with it quite a bit. The cree XPG's are markedly brighter than my XR-E's, and this thing is BRIGHT! The sunrise and sunset can be programmed for up to an hour with the standard controller, and intensity of each color controlled independently. The cooling fan is almost silent as well. Just ordered 2 more units and a 6 foot rail system. I will need to pick up at least 2 more when funds permit, but this tank is still at least 6 months off. I figure that these fixtures make sense for a number of reasons: 1) no bulb replacement, 2) color, shimmer, and brightness equal to or greater than MH, 3) less electric usage, 4) no heat = no chiller = even less electricity use, 5) dimability, natural sunrise, sunset, 6) no additional external moonlights required - moonlighting done by controller, 7) possibility to add more functionality with external controller later, 8) expandability.

I too looked at the ecoxotic fixtures. In the end, I decided against them mainly because they use 1w LED's and I don't know if they'll penetrate the 28-30" I'm looking for. I know 3w LED's will though. Just something to think about.

jcolletteiii thanks for the info on the Aquaillumination fixture. I don't know how I missed those while doing my research. I really like the fact that I would be able to integrate the lighting with my Digital Aquatics controller.

I also like the opportunity to control the intensity from 1-100%. Having a fully programmable lighting system would be nice!

Pics are hard to come by. Can you post pics of your unit?

Thanks again for the tip!

I have a 50 gallon (48"x12"x20"H) softie and LPS tank. I have been running 2 of the 8000K/453NM combo and the 2 of the full 453NM modules as my main lighting for about 3 weeks now. Results or as good or better than with my previous 54wattx4 4ft Nova T5. Not as bright, but definily looks good. Took some getting used to as this is way more blue than my T5 setup, even though I had a higher % of actinic to white in the t5 fixture. 4 modules on a tank this size is probably the minimum I would go. When I have the chance I plan to add another set of the 8000K/453nm combo modules.

I would recomend these to anyone with a tank less than 24" deep. Your livestock is only limited by the number and spacing of the modules
