Hey team,

I'd thought I'd join in and attempt to keep a log of my attempt with a reef. Sadly my tanks already been up and running for a few months now after my transition from a 10g, so this will just follow my progress going forward.

My tanks a custom built 40g with a 30g sump.
Equipment:
Lighting - Ai hydra 26hd
Wavemaker - Icecap 1k gyre
Return - Jebao dca2000
Heater - eheim 200w
Skimmer - coralbox d300
Other:
Hmahli resin reactor with a few of the blue life resins inside.

Current stocking:
Breeding pair of occy clowns
6line wrasse
Cleaner shrimp
2x Astrea snails

Sump stocking:
1x snowflake clown being looked after over the holiday season.
1x misc hitchhiker crab

Mixed Reef aiming for sps dom but having to keep my partner happy so a few euphylia for her.

I'll try to keep this updated but will happily answer any questions.

Currently struggling with the largish sps colony in the middle of my rockwork(the poo brown one) it's a recent addition rescued from a friend's tank.
Its lost a bit of tissue on a few of the branches but seems to have stopped progressing.

I'm hoping it pulls through

Few things happening on the reef today so gonna be a bit of a brain dump. Hopefully it isn't too hard to follow!

Found one of my snails dead, my partner was not a fan of the smell when I pulled it out of the tank.
Some of my Lps are sulking a bit today, maybe due to the above snail? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I plan to do a 20L water change tomorrow that'll hopefully help sort themselves out.

Did water tests today:
Alk: 8.0
Ca: 430
PO4: 0.012
I'm gonna be grabbing a Mg and nitrate kit sometime this week so I can stay on top of the params. Cool to know that my manual dosing is keeping things stable so far though. Definitely going to be looking to replace my current dosing pump, can't see myself loving it long term.

So today my t5 bulbs finally arrived meaning I could set up my aquatic life t5 hybrid fixture.

I put together most of the fixture up a month or so and discover today that I'd thrown the bolts away that I needed to bolt my hydra to the fixture. Quick trip to bunnings fixed that though.

Wasn't able to hang it evenly but meh, it'll do and I was hungry.

Pretty impressed by the coverage of the t5s. Can't wait to see how my tank develops from here
