I like to troll vendor sites to learn about all the new or new to me products. I stumbled on Polyp Labs website and onto a product called "Medic". It says the following...
"Medic is a highly effective water conditioner used to control external fish parasites present in both marine and freshwater environments. It contains a reef-safe oxidizing agent and is particularly effective against:
Marine Ich - Crytpocaryon irritansFreshwater Ich - Ichthyophthirius multifiliisMarine Velvet - Amyloodinium ocellatum
Features
• Completely reef-safe• Buffered to maintain physiological pH• Does not harm invertebrates• Does not harm nitrifying bacteria
Size: 30mL - (Treats 550G of aquarium volume)"
It says the active ingredient is "Crystallized Peroxide Salts", my question is...is this just H2O2, hydrogen peroxide, treatment? I have read about this treatment and while relatively safe it does have definite negative risk to some reef inhabitants so I am wondering, asking for some education here to know for sure what to think about these claims. I don't have Ich currently but have in the past and agonized over how to treat in a reef without hurting things. I always removed fish and treated in QT.
So, please Randy, educate me. Thanks, Scott.
