Education Questions

Hi, My name is Rich Knox and after joining REEF2REEF I became familiar with Randy Holmes-Farley and his work. I hope he don’t mind me asking, but I have a few questions about schooling.

I’m currently in the process of completing a BA in Environmental Management. After completing it I’m looking to further my education and move towards a degree in Marine Biology. I have the opportunity at my current school to load heavy on biology classes.

I’m curious as to what he’d recommend for someone who’s looking to move into the Marine Biology field. I’m looking to focus heavily on coral and helping with the restoration of the coral reefs.

I appreciate any time and advice he and anyone could pass along to me.

There are multiple programs that concentrate on coral restoration. One that I would encourage you to take a look at is Nova Southeastern University’s Oceanography program that has an extensive coral research program. Good luck!
