I do not have an eel, I am considering one in the future. BUT, I don't know how to make it so that one cannot escape. What kind of "secure cover" are we talking about? Once it gets big...let's say a snowflake eel or a green wolf eel or maybe a zebra eel (current tank is too small but I'm thinking ahead)...will the cover need to be re-enforced somehow?

On one hand I'm ready to forget the whole thing. On the other hand, my fascination with the creatures seems to be arguing with good sense.

Pictures of these secure covers would be super helpful, too.

Thanks!

Covering a tank for eels is basically the same for fish, any small hole hole is a possible escape route. Many of the mesh covers out there will work great, I made mine from stuff found at Lowe's/Home Depot (will post a pic later once lights come on). I prefer a tank with eurobracing since they like to cruise/investigate the perimeter more than anything. I can go on and on talking eel but if you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask.

Here's a close up of what I've done.
