Eel scapes

Working out how I want to lay out the rocks for my tank which will be bare bottom. Any photos would be appreciated.

I'm planning on two eels - snowflake and skeletor... maybe a ribbon in the future.

I don't like the idea of cementing the scape together. If I use PVC under the base rocks for the tunnels will I have problems? Was planning on running the pipe between flat cut base rock and using larger pukani rock over the top to make fish shelters

I used PVC tunnels under my rockscape and the eels really liked it.

Did you epoxy them together or rely on the weight of the rocks?

Awesome! What types of eels? Share any pictures? At this point I know a little less about it than would make me comfortable - Would really appreciate it =)

If using pipe, then angle the ends down, and not up. This will allow waste to flow out.

I like to start will tunnels around the base rock, sizing them with the size of the eel in mind.

Red marks the passages through the rock

Then i make sure to put some heavy rocks above them and make it so its sturdy enough that it cant be moved. Ill glue/cement them together if i have to. I also add a pretty deep sandbed so they can enjoy digging out as they get bigger. This was after the first layer of sand. Eels definitely prefer being able to hide their whole body in the rock so make sure they have the room to do so.

Lots of caves and tunnels equals a happy eel haha
