Eel

I am new to the saltwater life, I bought an eel the other day. He’s really small and turns gold under blue light, when I put him in my tank he had trouble finding a place under my rocks and he swam to the back of my biocube with my filter, I got him out but he’s back there again. How can I get him out? I have tried food, reaching in and grabbing him but nothing is working and don’t want to stress him out or make him hate his new home. Thank you all in advance

A small net is usually how i get them out. The only way to keep him out is to physically block the filter section. If an eel can get somewhere theyll go and check it out. That includes outside of your tank. It sounds like you have a gold dwarf, but if its not then any other eel will quickly outgrow the tank.

A small net is usually how i get them out. The only way to keep him out is to physically block the filter section. If an eel can get somewhere theyll go and check it out. That includes outside of your tank. It sounds like you have a gold dwarf, but if its not any other eel will quickly outgrow the tank.

I just bought a 40 gallon tank for him just have to get it setup and regulated before putting him in there. I will try to get a smaller net and get him out. Thank you
