For those of you who run an outside like to feed fresh air into your skimmer, have you ever seen a change in your skimmers efficiency or performance with changes in outside air temperature. If we think of the air intake like a turbo charger, as the air temperature cools outside for the winter slightly dense air is being fed into the skimmers intake meaning more bubbles. For those of us who have our skimmers tuned were we want them a slight change like this could throw things off. This is my first winter running an external draw for my skimmer so I am just wondering if I should be expecting to make some tweaks. I have had a couple instance where my skimmer will be humming along and then all of a sudden my collection cup fills up over night because it starts skimming very wet with out an apparent root cause. Which makes me nervous especially travel long around the holidays.

I use socks for filters, but am interested in what the weather may do as well. First winter with tank set up. My whole setup is in my garage. Garage not climate controlled but I have heat and cool in tank. We have had some nights dip into the low 30's so far so good.

I run mine to outside air. I only empty it once a week with a shut off valve running to a seperate gallon container. I only make adjustments when I empty it once a week if any. You could add a float switch to shut down your skimmer if your really worried about it.
