Looking to hear about personal experiences with online coral purchases. Some sites say exact colors not part of guarentee. So I want to know some common things to expect. I currently run 2 full spectrum 120 watt everglows.

I buy most of my coral online, and I've had great experiences with most of the vendors I've bought from. That being said, different lighting will have different effects on how coral looks in your tank. If you want to try and keep it as close to the pic as possible, find out which vendors are also keeping their corals under LEDs (since that's what you're running). Also, it's normal for some things to lose color a bit in shipping but get it back over a few weeks in your tank. HTH

Thank you for the feed back. The Scoly on top was my first online purchase. I forgot to post the picture the website had up with it. I'm trying to get a few opinions (nothing I can do now), but a good peace of mind knowing that I'm right. Here's the website pic, my opinion is they photo shopped it but I'm still new to the hobby. I do have some hope it could regain it's color cause it's only a week in my tank.

You are going to hate this answer but a lot of the stuff you see online is photoshopped. Regardless its a nice looking piece, maybe you can get more color if you director more blue to it. People say they color up over time and I believe that there is truth to that.

IME don't buy expensive corals online. Always do it in person if you can. That way you are actually seeing what you are getting.

I lucked out and met a local guy on craigslist who can order in coral from some of the high end coral shops. This works well for me as I can see the product before I buy it. If it comes in not looking anything like the picture then he handles it from there. - Thats a nice service, and I am sure there is lots near your location :)

Thanks MrCoffee. I agree it's a nice scoly and for 150 I can't complain to much. But the lime green looks way better. I was just dumb founded when the rep told me it was my lighting. My first thought was where do I buy lights to make my corals pop like yours haha. Lesson learned and will be doing more research on future purchases.
