Egg Crate

Does anyone use egg crate under their rock? I just got the Carib Sea Coral Tree and its huge. Was debating on putting down egg crate since I'll have to redo my scape.

I have it. I have gone back and forth with liking it and not liking it. I’m currently really liking it. In short, I feel it allows water movement through the aquascape, thus preventing ammonia build up. It’s also a nice structure upon which I can easily lay the rock.

I basically built an egg crate cube, with the front and back open without egg crate. I stacked rock on top and the sides and then covered the bottom egg crate, which rests on the glass, with some sand.

I’d use a piece of PVC pipe and drill holes all through it.

I was thinking about just putting a sheet down to protect the glass. Not really looking to do like a plenum. Its in a Reefer 170 by the way.
