Ok reef friends i need help and advice. Me clowns are laying eggs now and i want to try to raise some babies. I have a 10gal set up with air stones and they just laied again not more then 10min ago. So questions... how can i get the eggs out of the tank and when should i take them out. Also what should i prepare for food and when should i start to feed the new guys.

This what i do before they spawn place near them a peace of dark glass they always like to lie eggs over it and then take glass with the eggs and place in rotyfers colture
Now think you have to wayt and take more babies you can

Well i cant remove the rock but can i use a turkey baseter to suck them off the rock?

I just catch them all when they hatch on the 8th day. It's pretty fun imo lol

Make yourself a light trap. They a phototactic after they hatch out and will swim to any light source where they can easily be collected. Also could buy one if you don't feel like making one. Check out Vossen Larval Trap on ETSY. It works great!

If you don't have a steady rotifer culture ready, then I'm sorry to say, the fry would take make it.

Im getting excited there 48 hours old after laying and already starting to change from the orange to gray

You can still raise a little bit without rotifers. Check out my post. I raised 3 fry without any rotifers and they are past metamorphosis and are very healthy looking. Something is better than nothing lol

Maybe bbs. The larger fry that dont choke might make it. Expect single digit survival at best

I have a 10gal tank set up with an air stone and filter system. I will shut the filter off when its time. I have covered 3 sides with black poster board and i have a cheep dimmable light on it. Im still looking for rotifers locally but its only day three so i hope to have time. Not sure yet on how to culture them and im working on that also. My biggest challenge will be extracting the fry out of the DS tank and also the timing at the point they hatch. They laid during the day so i hope the hatching takes place during a time im home and not at work.

Take a close look at the eggs. Usually the 8th day in 80° water .and I'm sorry to say , you can't have a filter in the fry tank. You just need to do daily water changes. 30% works for me . If the eggs all get the silver Eye, then they should hatch that night. Turn off the pumps and make sure it's completely dark. And I mean completely. After an hour take a dim flashlight and shine from top of tank and check to see if they hatched. They will be attracted to the light and swim towards the top. And them you can scoop them with a container. Don't net them.

Sweet.. and yes i know the pump has to be off in the fry tank. Its there to keep the water good until they hatch and i place the little guys in it. My DS tank is always 79 so i hope thats ok for the eggs at the moment. I will watch close around day 7 and 8 in hopes i can be there when they hatch. Is there a tell tell sign on when there about ready to pop out?

Any one know where i can get rotifers quick? My local contact didn't pan out!

You should start out with water from the display tank the same night you transfer the eggs or capture the fry. Even the same water you put in there a day before changes from the display tank and can cause shock

Ok.. were on day 8 and the little guys haven't hatched yet.. should i be worried? The eggs have changed to a dark gray with a matalic glow to them when i shine a light on them and there quite a bit larger then when they were laid so im hopping there just slow cookers
