Eggcrate on bottom of aquarium

Does anyone use eggcrate on bottom of their aquarium? Any pros and cons?

Con : prevents glass from being broken from a rocks

The reason to use some kind of protective barrier on the bottom is to prevent point loading of the rocks from damaging the glass (I’d view that as a pro though ....). It’s proabbly a mostly unfounded fear, but a piece of acrylic or starboard is cheap. Eggcrate works fine too.

Eggcrate will trap waste. As long as as your CUC eats it, it will be fine.

I use one time and will never use it again.

Eggcrate trap detritus and looks really ugly if sang is moved.

A sheet of acrylic will do the same work and won't have the cons of eggcrate.
