I wound up with a jelly mass of clear eggs on my live rock that hatched into what looks like mini parachutes that swim in a jerky motion. I'm trying to get a picture of what they hatched into but does anyone have any idea what they could be? The rock was shipped from Fiji but with delays at the airport I thought the rock was dead.

Really odd, can’t really see anything in the picture. Maybe it’s some kind of baby amphipod or invert swimming in the water column?
Unless they are super tiny maybe you can siphon one out of possible for a better photo. Sorry I don’t have an answer.

Without seeing video, my guess is hydroids

The eggs hatched 2 nights ago so unfortunately I can't get a better video of the eggs but I'm currently trying to get one of the larvae. They have three very small white balls with a clear membrane connecting them and they move very fast in a jerky motion. I've been reef keeping long enough to get some common hitchhikers but I've never seen anything like this. No snails hermit's etc in the tank yet.

These four pictures (sorry for repost of 2 of them couldn't tell them apart) and that short grainy video is all I got before they hatched they collapse when taken out of water so I'm currently trying to cup one so I can get a clear photo more notes they can react to stimuli and are definitely free swimming they swim away from the net in a jerky seemingly random zig zag fashion. My fish seem to love eating them making collection a challenge lol.

I'm still trying to capture the lil buggers they can swim against the current in a random fashion it's really annoying anybody have experience trying to catch larvae? It's alot harder than I expected I drew a diagram of what they look like.
