Eggs!

I came home yesterday to find my Akindynos Clowns laid eggs. I did some research on breeding and raising them but don’t think I can do it. Posting pic just to share.

Congrats Yeah raising clowns is a lot of work. I chalk it up to free food for the other fish when they hatch.

Unfortunate, but true... of most species that breed in our tanks. Successfully raising fry to adulthood is a major challenge.

One of the main reasons I quit keeping seahorses. Ok, I had GBD wipe out my herd... but the reason I never got more horses was the difficulty in rearing the offspring. I simply couldn't watch them starve... so I did my best. Successfully raised several broods before I lost the adults. Way, way too much work.

The good news is you're likely to never even see the hatched clowns... they're tiny, and if you've got a thriving reef system, chances of them starving to death are slim. They'll become prey in a hurry.

My wife and kids are trying to convince me to set up a separate tank and try to raise them. These aren’t cheap clowns so my wife has dollar signs in her eyes. I’ve tried turning the hobby into a business....no thank you! Lol

Ok so this is weird. The spot the eggs are had been previously occupied by an anemone for a good year. All of a sudden on Sunday it moved and then the eggs appeared yesterday. Now today the anemone has split and they are moving to create what looks like a shield for the eggs. Crazy!

Man you’re crazy not to give that a try! You are lucky to have a spawning couple. It would be a snap to hatch and raise them with some good advice. There’s a lot of YouTube videos, MBIsite.org all with great advice. I’m jealous. I’ve had mitiple pairs of different clowns, but no spawns yet. I’ve had most for about a year. Waiting...
But I have been able to spawn other fish like bangaiis, clown gobies and my latest venture, Striped Blennies.
