Eheim Heater Light

Since I setup my tank a few days ago, my Eheim Jager 100w heater light has not turned off. It's been at least three days in the sump. Obviously I'm not looking at it 24/7, so I can't tell if its just coincidence that when I look at the light is on and other times it's off.

I checked the tank temp and it's dead-on at 79 which is how the heater was set before I plugged it in. I didn't calibrate it.

Should I be concerned?

The light should turn off once the heater reaches its set temp. Your tank size and ambient room temp will play a roll in how long and frequently the heater turns on and stays on. Is that the right size heater for your tank setup?

Thanks for the feedback. The heater is 100w, tank is a 40g Nuvo with a Eshopps Nano Cube sump.

Also, my house is set to 70 . None of the HVAC vents are near the tank. The room the tank is in, the vent is on the other side of the room with the fins angled away from the tank. No cold air is blowing at the tank.

I have a spare 75W heater, I'm wondering if I should add that or just upgrade to a 150W?

I run the 125 or 150s in my 40g breeders just depends on what is available when i need a replacement pump and both are usually the same price. They dont seen to stay on as long as the 100 watt. The 100 is recommended for up to 40g. In my experience with ponds and tanks is if the manufacture says its good for 100 gallons its only actually good for 50. Adding the 75 watt is the cheapest way to go. Downside is trying to get both heaters to turn on and off at the same time is tricky.

Thanks for the advice. I agree that getting both heaters to sync up might be a challenge. Both DT and sump are the same temp. Might just upgrade to the 150w.

Add the second heater and run them with something like an inkbird and you won't have to worry about them syncing.

Personally I will never run any heater again without a controller.

So how would you run two heaters in the Ink Bird? Looks like there is a outlet for only one heater and one cooler.

There are models with two heating outlets buy those don't have audible alarms. I just use an outlet splitter on the heating outlet. They are rated for something like 1000w so no issue doing that

I am running two 150s on mine. When the tank was a discus tank i was running two 300s

Very reliable for the price. $30 device literally saved me over $1000 in fish with my discus tank

OK, since my sump space is limited & I didn't want two heaters, I ended buying a 150W last night and the light has finally turned off after being on for a few hours.

Will definitely get the Inkbird but I'm going to go with this model and save me some space.

I always like having two heaters running for a backup in case of an issue. . I am running the neo therm which are really small. Definitely keep your second heater handy if only running one
