So i bought the 125 watt heater for my nuvo 40, but the water comes to about a inch below the minimum water level. Stupid question but is this bad. Do i need to order the 100 watt one instead?

You need to have the water level up to the line otherwise you run the risk of burning up your heater. Is there anyway you can put your heater diagonally in the tank?

Yes you need to have it at least at that line. I would look into shorter heaters but same wattage. Look at the product descriptions to get dimensions and go from there. Have you tried cobalt neo therm heaters? or Aqueon pro heaters? You could get the eheim 100W Heater but buy a secondary one if it is having trouble keeping the temp stable.

Definitely, the tank heater cannot properly calibrate it's shut off temp and will likely overheat your tank since it will always assume that it isn't warm enough.

The 100 and the 125 are the same size.

That sucks because it has allot of good ratings and it seems like its quality. I bought this before i understood how the sump in the Nuvo 40 worked. So are cobalt and aqueon considered to be good heaters? are those the other bests?

Alright, i ended up going with two 75 watt eheim jagers for redundancy. They fit fine and if one ever fails i still have the other going. I read this after reading through allot of posts on this. I also want to get the inkbird controller so that i never have to worry

I'm pretty sure you will like the inkbird controller. I have one myself. Although depending on which model you get you will have to get a two outlet plug to fit into the one heater Outlet. At least that's the one that I got. When I ordered mine. I thought it was 2 separate plugs for the heater but in actuality it was one for the cooling and one for the heater.

But anyways I think they're pretty awesome you can set parameters and alarms. On mine I have it set up to kick the heaters on when the temperature drops one degree below what I wanted. And an alarm will sound if it drops three degrees below or three degrees above what I want it to be.

And just a suggestion, if your heaters have a degree thermostat on them I set mine up to 85 just in case they're not calibrated correctly. But have my inkbird temperature set at 78.
