hi I'm going to be upgrading to a 350 Red Sea reefer G2 and I was wondering there are 2 different thermostat heaters by Eheim with no price difference and one is 250w (up to 600l) and the other is 300w (up to 1000l) do you think I should get it over sized or go for the 250w?

oversized is better, to be honest. are you running 1 or 2 heaters?
@shakacuz it would be one. the 250w is still 300 litres oversized or do you think I should go for the 300w which will be 700l oversized? or there is a 200w which is 400l?

if it’s one, go with the bigger. if running two you can run two smaller

depends on the temp of the room. most heaters are rated for 70 degree room temp so if its a cold room or you turn heat way down at night, you would want an over sized heater

There are many opinions on heaters. The sound advice is probably that heaters break and building in some redundancy or protection is wise.

I'd definitely go with two smaller heaters if you can, vs. one larger oversized one. If you don't have a controller, get a cheap inkbird or Ranco temperature controller as added redundancy. Having redundancy for heaters failing on or off is no joke, and pretty important.
