So my ehiem has never been able to truly calibrate. I have two of them one for water changes and they're both kind of just bad.

The one in my tank held 77.5 to 78.4 pretty well and then once summer came it was going from. 78.4 to 79.5 sometimes. I wasn't a fan on this and tried to turn the dial down and low and behold I am now in a battle to make it even just go back to where it was. I can't afford to leave this running for 24 hrs when I can see it creeping into the 80s.

I have a baylite controller but don't know how safe they are and don't wanna risk Bruning the house down.

Is there a better heater or is is this the how all aquarium heaters are?

Is my baylite safe to use?

I ordered a 75w to downgrade the size since its so big and looks horrendous in my tank. Now I'm wondering if I should've gotten a different heater all together...

How warm is it inside your house??? Is the tank near a window or an exterior wall??? Could it be that your room is just warmer than the temp setting??? Or can you tell that it is physically stuck on???

Oh I didn't mean to make it sound like it's stuck on. It doesn't seem to be stuck on. It seems that it can't be calibrated properly cause the dial will not allow me to calibrate it any lower. The heater just runs hot at factory default.

Example:
It's calibrated to 78 right now.
It's running at 79. 5

When I lower the temp on the dial let's say to 77 the heater turns on as if it's trying to raise the temp although it's already higher.

I'd say it's just this one but I have another identical one that I'm calibrating on the side (just incase I can't dial this one) it's doing the same thing. Smh.

I am starting to think the reviews are right and ehiem is not what it used to be
