Eienna's 50g Reef

That's how they sleep at night :) My Scooter does it too.

Odd. My mandarin never did that. He slime-blanketed instead.

It was cute to watch - not sure how to describe what she did but you've seen it, so you know XD

PHOTOS!!!

Best shots I could get of the clowns...darn things are so wiggly!!

Ok Ok I have to update my last statement. WOW! That's a fine looking tank you have. Great Job in keeping up the fight :).

I'm scared to find out whether it'll be okay, but I just took my leptastrea off the plug. It is now glued onto the rock. I'll drop in some updates over time.

Just before plug removal:

Very Nice. No have three and each live the mid light mid to high flow.

The leptastrea appears fine and dandy after its little adventure last night (when I cracked it off the plug it flew a few feet and landed on the tank lid.) :) Here's a photo of it in its new spot. It's closed up a touch because it's still digesting a nice meal of bloodworms. ♡ First times are cool, especially when you don't kill anything, lol.

EDIT: On a side note, there seems to have been a vermetid worm on the plug.

More tomorrow! :D

Ummm....I lied? XD No more photos until I get ones of my nassarius snails.

The scooter's doing great! She's lost her caved-in tummy - it's nice and round now - and she's getting bigger! She's a beauty, too. The edging on her anterior dorsal fin looks bright neonish orange when the light catches it properly, and the last band of color in her tail is a lovely reddish. Rust edging on the pectoral fins. I wish I could get it on camera; the orange doesn't show up and she's camera-shy. Love her, though!

I just got a half-decent photo of her :D The orange still isn't showing up and you can't see the rust edging on the pec fins (it's very slight) but you can see the reddish band on her caudal that I was talking about. I haven't seen it on other scooters so far.

Update....I'm having to change my stance on using a skimmer on this tank, mainly because I can't set up a decent sump with what I've got to work with (tempered glass, etc.)

I'm now exploring my options for a hang-on-back or sumpless under-tank skimmer.

Not much to report, which I tend to feel is a good thing considering everything that's happened.

Things are pretty much continuing as usual. The leptastrea's still a very happy-seeming little green bush (I swear, that's what it looks like to me,) the diploastrea...well, I still can't tell if I've really got it right, but it definitely isn't deteriorating. The goni finally kicked the bucket, but no surprise there. I'll try one again at a future date. Clowns are still growing like weeds, and the scooter seems well - she's growing in length, though IMO she could use a little more weight for her size. Patience is the name of the game, though...she started out REALLY skinny but is making progress. :)

I did discover some rather ugly white sponges have developed...I'm going to get rid of them...I know they're beneficial in general, but I hate the look of these particular specimens.

Saving up for an HOB skimmer (I forgot the name but I have it saved in a wishlist).

Berghia coming soon, if all goes well. Thank the Lord. My aiptasia infestation is becoming a major pain.

I LOVE the pics!! I will keep following this too :) The tank looks awesome and gives me a LOT of ideas for stocking and scaping my own larger tank when I can afford it! Well done

Thank you muchly n.n

I recently found out that my tank is a 50 long (because it's 48" long) so I have a touch more leeway in stock selection. Yay!

Ooooh. I can't keep the pictilis anthias in this tank, but at least according to bluezooaquatics.com I could get a single Bartlett's - which I could more than live with. W00t!!!

I'll double-check with other sites first, but it looks like I'll eventually have my anthias ♡♡♡
