Eightline Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus octotaenia)

I got a small juvenile Eightline Flasher wrasse 1 year ago. Keep her in my 320 DT with a bunch of wrasse. She was happy healthy and growing very fast. She grew from about less than 2 inches to about 3.5 inches. Over the last 2 weeks she really change quickly to terminal male. I cannot believe how fast this wrasse change from female to male. Below are the serial pictures of this wrasse. This is my favorite wrasse in my tank, certainly one of the most colorful, not aggressive, but not a timid wrasse. He should do well in a wrasse community tank.
Color changes very quickly. Fins length still a little short. I hope the fins continue to grow a bit more.

Just got another Eightline Flasher yesterday. She is much smaller than the one I got last year. She is slightly less than 1.5 inches.

After 3.5 months my Female Eightline developed a lot. Larger and color up a lot. Still a female, she is a lot smaller than my male

Do you have an update on the 2nd female 8 line? Also how do you start to add multiple flasher wrasses in the same tank? Any and all information is greatly appreciated

I got sad news. My pair were doing great. They spawn regularly. Last month, my female disappeared. One day she was there and the next she was not. It was easy to notice. My tank is absolutely escape proof, so I think one of the Carpets got her. This is one of the price I have to pay, keeping Gigantea and Haddoni in my reef. I lost her after about 1+ year in my tank.
If I find another Eightline Flasher, I will buy her.

Both are very expensive. NYAquatic is cheaper but with shipping it jumps right up there. Hopefully one of your LFS will get one in for you?

If I purchase a eightline flasher and he is the only wrasse in the tank with he still become super vibrant like yours? @OrionN

Take good care of her and she will become a vibrant super male, even by herself in our tank. I do put a mirror in front of my tank for several hours a week, usually Saturday or Sunday. Be careful and not over do this. I don't know if this help their development or not, but thinks that this is natural for the fishes to have territorial disputes once in a while.
