Einjinf multiple media in one reactor

I got a aquatop 30 media reactor. Currently running carbon. There room in the rector to run at least 2 types of media within the reactor. Is this common to just run 1 type of media in a reactor? Or can I run multiple type of media on it? Such as carbon and gfo?

negate: to be ineffective
Like running carbon before bio filter media. The carbon will filter out the organic nutrient stuff, becoming clogged, while the bio filter media woull not be getting the nutrients.
