Hey there I just received my electrical bill today and it was way over the ordinary. This month I have added a few things to my tank but I do not think it would added that much difference. I currently have running

Stock 8w pump (nuvo 10)
AI prime HD (running 10-30 w for ~15h)
Inkbird temp controller set for 81 (50 w heater)

I have everything plugged into a normal surge protector. I was wondering if I’m doing anything wrong or if this is part of the hobby.

That's less than a 100w light bulb.

You don’t want to see my electric bill... I agree it’s just part of the hobby! :)

Winter bills the worst even though I have gas heat

Agree with @mta_morrow ....that minuscule amount of additional wattage might have added a couple bucks at best to the electric bill. You need to look elsewhere. Were your last couple of bills estimates and they finally read the meter?

How much is it usually and how much was it now?

Check your bill....you can calculate what the tank is costing you (approximately). Your bill should include $ per kWh or $ per kWh/day. Use this to determine what your tank is costing you. It becomes more difficult if you have a tiered bill.
