Electrical Cable Bulkhead/Gland Pass Through.

With that picture you could cut a notch in the lid that fits just the wire and when the lid is screwed on it would look good. It wouldn’t be water tight but it would look ok
That wouldn't work for that water can

If it were to be laid on its side

The side being the new 'top', if you will

op wants power cables run in the bucket cleanly and ability to have a lid that’s neat to avoid the stigma of being a “hillbilly”
The real word was the pejorative for people from Oklahoma or Arkansas, but I censored those

"Explain, what do you mean Arkansas?"

Haha.
It's funny how you see that as looking for a fight.

I'm just saying, I care more about the look of this:

And less about the look of this:

I’m just messing with ya cause I remember you said someone kept accusing you of wanting to start fights

You should see my sump lol I don't care
Rats nest of wires and adapters on the right side of the cabinet

1/2 of “mulm” in some of the sump compartments

Mmmmnn mulmtastic

I just leave the cabinet doors closed and I enjoy this

Why would you put that jug on its side? If space is the issue your answer is to buy a different jug that fits your space, or drill a hole in the new “top” for the wire to come out. Then when you need to refill the container you can never carry it with the handle because water would come out the original side when returned to vertical

Here’s my container I just took pics does this help (this actually reminded me I need to refill!)

It’s an actual ato container. It has a pass through for the pumps power cord and water tubing, and it has a 1/4” push lock connected connected to a float valve to allow auto-refilling if needed

The pump is easy to use as an ato pump because it has a inline barrel connector for connecting to the control unit. So I only need a tiny hole to pass the wire through, then the excess gap is filled when the water tubing from the pump

Edit: the pump came with the ato as a package

While I can completely understand the need for order in ANY part of life, I would have to agree that there are no real good options for cleaning up cabling with powerheads in the tank (other than dropping them off the back). I have seen some beautiful sumps out there that are VERY organized when they don't have to be. One can have form AND function within reasonable boundaries. The OPs query is valid. But the best course of action is always NEVER mess with potential water damage!

Water tank.

Perhaps one wanted a float water level switch at the top and bottom of it

To tell one, or one's controller or alarm, if it's full and empty

Currently, have one of these hanging out the top of mine, as everyone suggests, with the lid sitting ajar on top. I had hoped someone here has at least seen it done. Even in a different scenario or application, say a fuel guage in a tank on a boat, for example. I'm not the first person wanting to run a wire through a tank

The aircraft connectors is a pretty good go at waterproof connectors. Ty there

Are you yanking my chain?
I’m guilty.

I hope you do find a slick solution for your top off cables. I don’t think that I have come across any fittings that would work for your current setup, and cutting line cords is a potential fire and shock hazard that also voids the pump warranty. It would make an insurance claim a rough fight for even a good legal team. Hate to not have a good solution but I hope we have had a somewhat helpful discussion about the issue.

Yep. I've had an insurance claim for water damage to flooring. It's no fun. In my case, it was a bad connector to the back of my fridge (the water dispenser). Water does a lot of damage fast, especially if an ATO were to leak out all at once. My claim was a small one for 3K. And I'm sure my subflooring was affected.

What is your best or favorite method for running pump electrical cables

Or level sensor cables through the side or top of a water container or tank

Do you use cable gland bulkheads?

Do you cut the plug end off to fish it through; if so, what's best method for connecting it back on, on the outside?

Good question, especially with plugs. I've re-terminated a few cable ends before, but also just massive overdrilled. I do like using the twist to tighten cable glands when possible - while not water proof they keep things much better sealed and retain the cables from sliding about.
