So I must have screwed something up in rewiring my Evo LED lights.

If I plug them into a wall socket they seem to work just fine. However if I plug them into a power strip or non grounded extension cord they do not.

I am guessing I have got the neutral wire and the ground wires reversed. Does this sound correct?

The 2 power cords that came with the light are three conductor cords. The wires in each cord did not have a uniform color code...meaning out of six wires I had five different colors and guessed at which ones were hot, neutral and ground.

The light would work without what I thought was the ground hooked up. Would the light power on in the wall socket if I got the hot wire correct, but the neutral and ground backwards?

Here is some background info...
The 200w Evo LED was suspended over my wifes reef tank with cables. Earlier in the week one of the cables failed and half the unit went into the tank. Ended up just frying some wires inside and the connector for the power cord. LED drivers and LESs were ok.

So here is what I ended up doing to repair the light...

Rewired power cords to come in from the same side as opposed to opposite ends. Decided the disconnects were not needed and just hard wired it.

Added three switches to give me individual control over what lights are on and the intensity of the blues.
I can adjust to the following...
50w whites with or without blues.

50w, 100w or 150w of blues with or without the whites.

LEDs are not out in the lower corner, just strange effect from camera angle.
Fans operate anytime any of the blues are powered.

However now I have the issue in my first post...

Well, I decided to do it the right way and went and got a multimeter. Lo and behold that's exactly what I did. I used the ground as the neutral and vice versa. Going to rewire it tomorrow and all should be good.
