Planning for a vacation in February for 12 days, and in general I just want to put my reef tank on timer (I'm gone many days for 15+ hours)

What's the most reliable electricle timer? I have a flival evo 5 gallon
The LED is 2 prong, 10 watts, 11000 kelvin

Go to wally world and buy a cheap timer.. works just as good as the high dollar ones. I have used them for years with my MH's

I have a digital display one from walmart for my refugium before I got my reefkeeper and it never failed me. I think I paid $20 for it.

Whats up guys, so i'm new to this forum and found this post and thought it somewhat relates to my topic as well and if anyone could help that would be really appreciated. Anyways, I left my moonlight on for my 5 day vacation recently (cause I have a fluval with no timer, so it was either moonlight or regular light and opted for the moonlight due to the possibility of a ton of algae when I came back if I used the regular light) and everything is living but my corals (specifically my torch coral) seems stressed. My frogspawn seems to be doing fine but my torch coral doesn't come out all the way now and looks a little deflated. It doesn't nearly look as big as before. I know this is probably normal to happen and time will eventually make it come out and full again but I just want to make sure that by letting it be will be my best option. Thanks!

Sounds like to little of light was left for to long. Your corals need light to process food. Personally 72 hours is the max I would allow my tank to go without proper lighting. Just get a cheap timer or two from Walmart or if you can afford a Reefkeeper or Apex get one and set it up with a light schedule and you won’t have to worry about it again.
