Electronic pipette - Affordable options?

Hi all,
I eventually plan to set my trace elements up on dosers diluted with rodi. I’m in the middle of consolidating systems, so it’s going to be a hot minute before I am at a place where I will be ready for that.

I need a more accurate way to dose something like .03 of a mil. A dropper isn’t scientific and I know I see other drops rolling off the glass dropper when I do this.

What is a good yet affordable electronic pipette? I have 8 or so items I use a dropper with. Is there a plastic sleeve that could be designated for a specific trace or do I have to rinse in rodi each time?

There are not really any cheap options. You are talking about 30 microliters. This precise dosing requires a syringe pump. I’ve been playing around with some old high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) injector parts, which could be an option if you have DIY skills. Might be better off using a manual micropipette daily. Maybe you can find one on ebay, but they are very expensive new. This is what you are looking for. They are used in labs and for IV dosing in hospitals.

Almost aways causes trouble if you go cheap, unfortunately.

@gbroadbridge - When you already have several bottles of 1961 Dom sitting on the shelf waiting for your custom 8 foot peninsula to get here - you will pass on the Louis Roederer, especially if it is a stop gap, to ensure your bill with GEO is paid not to mention these dang electrician bills for a tank that will have 5 dedicated 20 amp circuits. The (second) one I linked is this one but a smaller size. I use 1-10ml. You just turn a wheel on the plunger and set the amount you want to extract

When you plunge out, you can go past the neutral point to puff out a tiny bit of air that ensures no residual is left inside the syringe portion.


You would need the 100-1000ul model

1000ul = 1 ml
100 ul = .1
And it can be set anywhere in between

is your .03 of a mil meaning 30 microlitre? if it is, you can buy a 20-200 microlitre autoppipette. no electronic part inside.

search AliExpress for joanlab pipette, they cost like 20-30 bucks but work perfectly.
They have all sorts from sub-ml to 10ml, the lower the dose the more expensive they get.
i use the 2-10ml to fill my Hanna checker Vails
