elegance coral- back from the dead?

ok so, about 3 months ago my elegance coral shrunk up to to nothing and about half of its skeleton is exposed and has algae on it now. Now, it has slowly been growing back not its skeleton and is sprouting tentacles again. After 3 months of not eating, it finally took food tonight. Has this ever happened before? I find it really weird that this coral would just come back like this

Thats good news if its feeding. I saw a post on here about a Duncan that didn't open for a year. Corals are remarkably resilient sometimes. I would continue to do what your doing and I hope it continues to respond.
