Elegance coral help

Any experience with elegant coral? I’ve had this guy for about a month now and he was open and happy. He looks kind of like a Venus flytrap when I first got him. Now, for the last few days, 1/2 of his body has kind of been tucked away and his skeleton. I’ve tried moving him to a lower flow area to see if that made any difference, but I’m not seeing any huge Differences. He’s sitting at about a 100par atm. It does almost look like he’s getting fatter though so maybe he’s just eating or growing? My parameters are in the pictures.

I hate to say this but this may be elegance coral disease. If it doesn’t start to open again soon, a fresh water dip may help. Typically a 10 minute dip in RODI that’s been equilibrated to the same temp as your tank water.

I have a friend whose elegance was receded in the centre and not looking good at all and I said I would be willing to take on the challenge. Straight away I did a cipro bath and when I took it home I did a Ciprofloxacin, Iodine and Amoxicillin bath on it, here it is today vs yesterday.

I have a friend whose elegance was receded in the centre and not looking good at all and I said I would be willing to take on the challenge. Straight away I did a cipro bath and when I took it home I did a Ciprofloxacin, Iodine and Amoxicillin bath on it, here it is today vs yesterday.

I’ll give that a shot! I don’t have any Cipro at the moment, but I do have amoxicillin. It’s not showing any signs of infection (mucus/tears). I’ll see if I can track down some cipro. I have everything but the cipro for a KFC dip.

I did notice today that it is starting to show some of that white mucus so most definitely ECD… uhhh lol… i’m gonna do what I can to save this little guy and see how it goes

What is your ratio for the Cipro amoxicillin bath?

What is your ratio for the Cipro amoxicillin bath?

I did 1 tablet of both in 15 litres (4 gallons). However because I split mine into 2 buckets I did 2 tablets of each - you can’t really overdose the Cipro and Amoxy but Iodine you can - I did about 5ml in 15 litres (maybe a bit less).

Awesome! I’m gonna try a freshwater dip today with amoxicillin to see how it does.

Unfortunately this coral is on the does not do well in captivity list. While some report more than 2 years, many say about 4-6 months at best.

I’ve tried 3 times, look fab day 1, and stay extended.
But about 4 months in, and just overnight, retract and never come back.

Same with Long tentacle plates.

That sucks! Definitely my favorite type of coral so I’m hoping if I can’t keep this one going, I will be able to find one that does not do this. I’ve seen/heard of people having them for years and years.

I just put it in FW/amox dip… fingers crossed. I’ll try to find a shady spot for it when it goes back in the tank for a day or two.

Ours isn't doing well, after initially opening wide it's been looking a bit shrivelled the last 3/4 days, had I known they were tough to keep alive I'd of not bothered

I’ve heard they’re pretty easy to take care of except for this elegance coral disease that tends to affect a rather large population. I’m sure it’s some sort of pathogen in the .Hopefully, they’ll be able to resolve it in a similar fashion as to what they did for Brown, jelly disease, and torches.

Well just to follow up, my elegance died… how long should I wait before adding another? I want to be sure whatever pathogens caused this are gone.

I've read on these forums about using the KFC dip with elegance corals with success. I've used it successfully with other Euphyllia myself. Good luck!
