I've had this coral for about 7ish months. It's been doing okay, however I've recently noticed on the ball like tips on the end of its tentacles some have started darkening, and I'm wondering if it's okay? Everything else seems fine. I've attached the best picture I can take, ignore the sand bed, I've been fighting algea for a couple of months, and my tanks just starting to get back in check

I don't have any experience with the elegance coral, but it appears that all the dark tips are on the top right side. Is there another coral close to that area that could be stinging it? Other than that, I don't see any retraction of it's tentacles, so probably not something nipping at it. Since you're in the algae fight, have you used anything harsh or had any changes in water parameters?

No other corals are close enough to sting it, and I haven't used anything to fight the algea other than manual removal, bigger water changes, and lighter feeding, which is why I'm guessing the cyano popped up as soon as the hair algea was gone. Although now I've started seeing bubble algea.. So other than low nutrients I'm not sure what else could be happening to it, my lights went out, so once it starts retracting a bit I'm planning on giving it an iodine dip, figure it couldn't hurt, but may be able to help.

Does the color on the tips match the darker striations around the mouth? Maybe it's developing it's "mature" coloration. Any change in lighting or food. Whatever it is that coral look to be in great health.

Its looking okay? Just makes me antsy since it's my favorite thing in my tank. They do look similar in color to the darker stripes on it, so maybe you're right.. It was being moody for a couple of weeks not long ago, while I was fighting the algea, so has me worried.
