Elegance coral just ate a fish

Just saw a very small engineer goby swim by my elegance and boom, it’s gone. I knew these corals had a violent sting the hard way but eating a fish? Did it maybe just go in it’s hidey hole? Never seen this engineer hide so I’m assuming the worst lol is it normal for them to eat whatever crosses it’s path?

yeah, even took a long skewer to throw some sand up around it to maybe scare the fish and nothing. not sure what happened but time will tell

Did the coral curl in like it had grabbed food?

I'm seeing people online talking about clownfish that have sting marks from trying to host in elegances, but no dead clownfish. Plenty of "my elegance is eating a dead fish", no "my elegance definitely killed a live fish".

That's one fast elegance. I have a flame tail blenny and mandarin that will touch it's tentacles and even go "inside" and the elegance doesn't budge. I don't see any markings on either of my fish. Maybe it's just mine, but it's as slow as molasses

If it did eat your fish and it was me I’d move him into his own micro tank or get rid of it .

Fish must have been weak. Mine is larger than soccer ball and has never consumed anything other than food given.

If your fish disappeared in the blink of an eye after touching your elegance, Your elegance did not eat it. They don't eat that fast. Much more likely, Your fish darted into a cave under or around the coral. You would get to watch the entire process of your elegance eating a fish I've watched mine. Eat a few shrimp. It's quite entertaining.

I wonder if maybe the goby got stung a bit, spooked by it, and dashed into a little hole somewhere? Because I don't think any cnidarian in the world eats fast enough to make a fish VANISH. At minimum, you'd see the coral curl around it.
