I got this football size elegance coral week ago and looked ok in shop but did not have long tentacles and was closed little on one corner because told clown was bothering it"
got home and put into tank after treating with coral rx found crab and few little shrimp things! I did only used ramped down LED 60% and only 28% white to start and did open up after few hours! but noticed on night when lights out it had black/brown strings coming out heads in mouth area" Not happened since! iv got Moorish idol that started pecking at coral very often and made close up! so I put a egg crate cage over coral so Moorish could not get at elegance coral"
but next day the coral opened but did notice it was very puffed up around mantle/Base and over coral in general! Tried feeding and did have little mysis only on one side of coral
Next day the coral was not so puffed up but tentacles was shorter and coral was not opening fully and had white/clear snot coming from parts of coral
know it takes ages for the coral to start opening from when lights come on" lights on at 9.30 morning and the 4 t5 lights come on at 11.30 till 7.30 afternoon" it only part open at say 4 o clock afternoon and sometime don't fully open at all
whots problem with the coral?
iv just looked at the Light par on top of the egg crate over coral and says 120-160 par but under crate directly above coral its only 80 par and 60 par on sand bed!
Is this the problem? there is not enough light? the shops lights looked bright!
