So I'm reading alot about this.. So what is it? I'm not quite sure.

My elegance coral has been great past couple of weeks, but has now shrivelled a little and not extending which is weird.

Hi there,
I'm having issues with my elegance too but think I'm on the right track to getting it to a happier place (starting with reducing my elevated phosphate).
Have you made any changes to your tank in the last little while that may have upset it? Lighting, flow etc?

In the past week
1) added small amount of Phosguard, day 3 now but phosphate has not droppee dramatically as in testing phosphate each day.
2) i took out my carbon, as i needed that bag to replace it with the Phosguard.
2) i installed my hydra 2 days ago, but it's on minimal. Although it blossomed when lights got installed as my stock light was very weak LEDS. It could be shock from the lights, any suggestions? MY lights settings are currently on a minimal setting but may make it lower.

I wish I could give you some good advice - I'm thinking it could be something to do with your change in lighting. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in with some advice.

I have just added half the recommended dose of Phosguard to my system and will be monitoring it carefully.

Keep us posted with how you go.

I'm starting to feel I have shocked my coral with the new lights.
What would be a good way to destress it from the new light. I had tried to acclimate the lighting but may have been more than I thought they could handle. Both my anemone have also closed up.

My lighting is now off and using ambient light.

I’m definitely not an expert. But by the sound of it, I do think the lightning could’ve had an affect on your corals. Sorry to hear both corals were affected. I recently switched lights from Current USA to ViparSpectra and started my new lights on the lowest intensity (5 on whites, 10 on blues) to avoid shocking anyone. Everyone has adjusted well and gained a lot of color. I currently have the lights on 10 w, 20 b. I advise you put your lights on the lowest possible level, and raise the intensity by intervals of 5% or 10% every three or four days. However, like I said, I’m no expert so I’m going to tag the people who are :)
Sending you best wishes! And welcome to R2R!!! #reefsquad
Btw please post your levels of ammonia, nitrite, pH and salinity. Here’s an article on ECS In the meantime: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/elegance-coral-syndrome-treatment-log.672680/

Thanks.

I woke up this morning to find my Yellow Clown Goby / Yellow Coral Goby perching on the Elegance Coral. I thought the Elegance Coral would sting the Yellow Clown Goby?

Still a little deflated and not extended. I had decided to turn off the wavemaker for 1.5 hours to see how it goes.

IME depends on where it came from, many are collected on mud flats in turbid nutrient rich water, same is true fr some species of goniopora, they tend to slowly wither in nutrient poor reef aquariums.

Just my .02

Is the bottom/ skeleton more flat? or is it conical?

Stinging , likely not to others. Other corals, yes.
As with mine- First focus on salinity. What is your salinity?
Moderate water flow and moderate lighting. Turn lights on And go heavy on blue and purple first couple of days and brings whites to 8% on Friday and increase by 5% each day until you reach 35%.
Ph range of 8.1-8.3 and Temperature. . . 78-79 deg

Here is Mine:

Can't tell if flat or conical? But here's a picture.

My salinity has been stable at 1.025.

I believe my power head may be a little too strong so I am going out to buy a smaller one to see how it copes.

PH is 8.2.

As where i am now it's approaching the colder seasons. At night it would fluctuate 1 degree (celcius) , I don't think that is a major concern?

Ive just set my lights to the following setting on my hydra64 and will increase gradually. Yes will try amp up the violet gradually.
