Elephant ear mushroom brown stringy stuff

So every night my elephant ear closes up and every morning he opens. Seems to me to be doing great.

As he was closing up for the night tonight I noticed he expelled a bunch of brownish stringy looking stuff that just floared away from his center "mouth"

Is this normal?
