A couple of weeks ago, I started keeping a log of my tests. As with a new tanks levels are a little out of wack at first. But that was understandable. I was told by a proffesional to prepare my tank, I should start adding a Bicarbonate buffer while I’m cycling. So I did, followed the regimen of twice a week, 1/2 spoon full dissolved in one cup of RO. Did this about 5 times then made my first water change. After my first 25% water changeI saw a huge spike in Alk, which you will see. I was told to preform 50% water change and I did, I also stopped adding buffer. I test with all Salifert equipment

I will attach photos of my log, and let you view my perameters.real reason I’m here is because my Alk just keeps on rising, even after I have stopped adding bicarbonate buffer. Any ideas why? Or how to get the Alk levles back down without yet another water change? Thanks everyone in advance!

btw my reef store is where I get my SW, Alk is 11

ALSO, just found out I may have had a Nice hitchhiker in my life rock. Could be wrong but it looks like a tiny turbo snail that’s laying eggs to me, seems beneficial and exciting to me, but what do you think?
