This brown polyp popped up in aquacultured pink zoas, and has now made one baby you can see. All the polyps have doubled and are firmly attached to rock.

How would you kill or remove the 2 brown polyps in place? They look like they will get bigger faster than the pink, and irritate them, too.

I just scrape mine off with a sharp razor/ blade. Make sure you wear gloves/ mask/ eye wear because zoa juice is VERY irritating (seriously, learned this from experience). Make sure you cut the entire foot off and try to get the zoas to close before you start so the lashes on your pink ones don’t get damaged by accident, but make sure you know which ones are the ones you want to cut! Cut over a sink/ toilet/ table that can easily be cleaned so the zoa juice doesn’t stay on it and (this is just what I did) I opted to rinse the whole rock v e r y briefly in fresh water to remove any bad zoa particulates that may have remained. Good luck!

As others mentioned. . . Take kalkwasser powder and mix into a thin paste and inject into center core via syringe. Will not harm other polyps.

I would just use a sharp pair of scissors and cut it as close to the base as you can. If the other polyps don't shade out the remains over time you can always smother it with epoxy or use something like kalk paste, F Aiptasia etc to get rid of it. GL.

Thanks for the advice, going to the lfs tomorrow, will look at kalkpaste. The rock is glued to the back wall, so injection may be my only option. I used to be a nurse years ago, wish I'd have saved a box of syringes, would have come in handy a few times.
