I just finished my third treatment, slowly add it over the course of a day. Within eight hours. I left it in my tank for almost 3 weeks this time. So far none have popped up

4-month update: They came back. Back in September 2021 I followed a three-week process and had success with little casualties. In December I noticed the sympodium coming back. As many have learned in this thread fish bendazole is rather difficult to find. I finally sourced the medication fendendazole in the form of Panacur C.

It took me a while to work up the courage to put dog de-wormer in my tank. Even after I read Humblefish's post on fenbendazole and the bold warning in red that it's not safe for wrasses did I determine it was worth the risk again. I have 17 wrasses so to wipe out half my livestock would've been heartbreaking. I can say that every wrasse, even my four leopard wrasses, made it through unharmed.

My process this time was to try and hit it hard. I first turned off the UV sterilizer and carbon reactor. I took the cup off the skimmer and allowed it to run over to continue aerating the water. I mixed a whole one-gram packet of Panacur C with tank water. The packet says Fenbendazole Granules 22.2% (222 mg/g) so I believe that's roughly the same strength as the Thomas Labs fish bendazole that I used previously. I allowed this to work for 48 hours in the tank. Within two days most of the blue clove polyps were gone. It seemed to work in a faster timeframe than my first attempt.

I decided to dose the same amount again. A whole packet mixed with tank water and ran again for 48 hours. Approaching the fourth day I noticed a lot of my zoas and palys were looking a little rough. Not dying but some were closed or shrunken. I decided since the sympodium was gone I shouldn't risk any further damage and performed a large 25% water change and brought all the filtration back online.

Hopefully this helps others in their attempts. Let's hope this is my last.

Thanks for sharing and keep us updated. I’m starting to think that I’m going to have to live with them? Hopefully not. I haven’t used the Pancur yet, I do have some. I only have about three packets of the other stuff left. Good luck! These things suck. I would love to know where they come from and how the hell they got it in my tank

Thanks for this as tomorrow I’m storming the beaches!!! I also purchased Panacur c. My 3 packs came in a small box. Each are 4 grams. I think I’ll play it safe and dose one quarter of a pack, or 1 gram as you did. What do you think? Thx

I'm not sure if everyone had the same consensus as far as dosage. I estimate around 110-120 total water volume in my Red Sea 525XL. I was shooting for that 2 mg per gallon of water range, so I dosed the whole 1-gram packet (222 mg/g). If it's the first time, there's nothing wrong going the conservative route. You'll know within 1-3 days whether it was effective or not.

I'm not sure why I noticed a quicker result this go around. I do remember with my Thomas Labs bendazole that it was expired so maybe the potency was weakened. Or perhaps since they've been hit with the powder of death before that they were more susceptible this time. Not really sure.

I literally just went napalm on a rock covered in these....quick trip to Lowes and about 10min with the rock out of the aquarium and presto! cloves gone for good

I realize I was lucky as the invaded rock didn't have any other valuable corals etc on it and I was able to remove it without harming any...

But, I did learn that blow torches are fun

I realize I was lucky as the invaded rock didn't have any other valuable corals etc on it and I was able to remove it without harming any...

DID IT!!!!! I dosed so far (20 minutes ago) half a 4 gram packet of Panacur C into my approximately 200 gallon total volume system. I cut open the packet and poured 1/2 of the 4 gram packet into a one gallon pitcher. I have poured exactly “half” of that pitcher or 1 gram of Panacur C. Presently, everything is unaffected (only 25 minutes) Will be home after Super Bowl by 9:00 at which time I’ll pour the other half gallon.
Took out carbon, took off skimmer cup, unplugged uv. Earlier today, I transferred two large Gorgonian into my frag tank along with one Japanese weeping willow and a green Toadstool Leather. Also snails and crabs.
I feel like I’m starting over, keep you updated in the days and weeks to come. Thanks for any and all input.

I wouldn’t add anymore, just leave everything as it is. I’d wait another week to 10 days before adding carbon or doing a water change. Don’t add anymore Pancur. It sounds like you’ve got it going on the right track.

So even after 3 or 4 days the bcp although they look pretty beat up they will look even worse in 2 or 4 days from now?

That was the first time, I did a water change and added carbon. They came back in a month. The second time once I started to see them die I waited 10 days before I did anything.

They should, they should almost completely dissolve. The first time I did it I added carbon too soon and they came back. As long as your corals look ok let it ride.
