Trying to get rid of some invasive standard purple-ish discosoma and orange Yuma. What are my options? Does an injectable meant for aiptasia like Joe’s Juice, Aiptasia-X, or Kalkwasser work? How about a butterfly, maybe a raccoon? I don’t have any zoas.

I have seen chocolate chip stars eat shrooms, Racoons might work, same with kleins.

I have had success with a razor blade /slice off as much possible then smother the rest of the tissue with kalk or Aiptasia x

Best of luck!

Went through the same thing with my tank. The red and purple mushrooms were multiplying like crazy, and detaching and showing up in other areas of the tank, they were choking out my SPS Eventually what I ended up doing was selling my old rock with the mushrooms on it or gave it away to a reefer who wanted it. And kept a frag of the SPS. Not sure on removing them though. Following along for what others suggest :)

If you can’t manually remove them you can aim powerheads at the mushroom colonies with direct flow. They will diminish in numbers and grow away from the flow, you can use this to keep them away from your rock structures with sps on them as long as the flow isn’t hurting any of the hard corals.

I use an insulin syringe to inject a kalk slurry into invasive/unwanted shrooms.
The syringes have a very fine needle that I'm pretty sure other hypodermics have but I'm using what I have.
In about 24 hrs the shrooms have mushed up and you can suck them up with a turkey baster.

Blast the orange rics with flow until they detach, sell for cheap. I'm sick of vendors calling orange rics "Godzillas" and charging hundreds of dollars for a baby...

You could probably scrape them off with a razor and they would still live and then glue or epoxy over the pieces left on the rocks. I tried to get like ten to attach to rubble in a strawberry container one time. They always stuck to the plastic and snuck out never to the rock. One I ripped off the bottom of the frag tank left a chunk and it grew up full size

The kalk injection seemed to work well. It’s a bit annoying in practice as the kalk clogs the syringe. And even if I wait 30 min with flow off and then suck out as much as I can, a lot of kalk blows around the tank when I turn the pumps back on, which makes me nervous for the other corals and fish.

I’m going to try a majano wand on the rest.

Try franks tanks F aiptasia. Works just like kalk paste but it sets up like plaster so it doesn’t blow all over. I also have a majano wand. I’ll sell it to you, but be forewarned it only works on hollow aiptasia. It has killed nothing in my tank as I’m constantly working on a zoanthid invasion.

I have herd but not tried to hang the rock upside down over a bucket of tank water , and after an hour or a few hours they drop off on there own. Sounds plausible.

I have even scraped them off with a chisel. Then I boiled water and baisted the boiling water onto where they were . It worked for awhile they’ve returned.

Most direct way is to cut them off with a razor blade and smother whats left with F aiptasia paste. The reason is some shrooms will grow back from a small fragment.

Injecting them with vinegar from a syringe has some success. Problem is a rotting/dying shroom can release irritants. I would be more inclined to do this with discoma than rhodactis .

Did somebody seriously say to flip the rock over so they fall off? :-)
