Hello all!
I have seen a few of these small inverts that seem to have a hard shell like a snail, but they are not what I think of as the classic snail shape. They are long and oval shaped. I have only seen them under frag plugs and on rocks etc. This morning one was kind enough to be on the glass for a photo shoot. The one in the photo is about 0.25" long. Can anyone tell me what this is? And if it is good bad or neutral?
Thanks!

I will try to get better pictures, but I am 95% sure it does not have legs. From what I can tell looking up Chitons and Isopods, that would mean it is a Chiton.

Yeah, if it has a foot like a snail, it's a chiton.

Isopods will have legs and (typically) visible eyes - telling the difference between good and bad isopods can be a bit tricky, but most of the ones we get in our tanks are good.

Sweet, then I will keep an eye out to make sure all of them have a foot, and If so I'll let them do their thing. Thank you both!

If you take picture of the top of the animal then we can differentiate the snail if it is a Limpet or Chiton. Chiton has 8 segments shell while limpet has single cone shape shell. The underside looks similar.

Sweet, next time I see one I will pull it out and get a picture. I get the impression they are still young/ babies because their shells are fairly clear similar to the baby trochus snails in my tank.

These flat snails has in redouble suction. Try to pull them off may result in their death. Abalones and Stomatella snails will look similar from under also
