i have a Elos kh test kit without instruccions, what i know is that i have to use 5ml water of my tank but i don't know if each drop of the test is equal to 1dkh. lets say that i use 10 drops, that will be reading 10 dkh?
am i right??
thanks in advance!!!

No, if u put 10 drops that would be 5 Alk with the Elos test kit, but if u use the API each drop counts as 1=1.

Using 5 ml, 1 drop = .5 DKH. You can use 2.5 ml and 1 drop = 1 dkh.

mmmm, i just found the instruccions and says:
The total numbers of the drops equals the total hardness of the solution in dkh for example 4 drops = 4 dkh.
does anyone have the instruccions handy?

Look at the chart, if u have the new batch of the Elos the paper instructions are not correct they did a mistake when printing them, but if u look at hard cardboard chart and says .5 times each drop then go with that, there's a big thread on the Elos forum on RC about that.

This was written by Elos USA.

In the newest batch of KH test kits (GIU 2010 or June 2010) it appears that the INCORRECT pamphlet may be in the box with the CORRECT intructions card. In all Elos test kits you will have a pamphlet in many different languages with instructions and warnings and a color card with illustrated and brief written instructions. In general, it is best to use the card for instructions, as these are constantly updated. In our effort to improve the resolution in some of our kits we apparently added the incorrect pamphlet to the kh. So the correct resolution is as the card reads: 1 drop of reagent = 0.5 kh when using 5ml's of test water. For those that want to save reagent and do not need the higher resolution it is possible to use 2.5ml's of test water and now each drop of reagent will = 1.0kh. Sorry for the confusion and let me know if you have any questions.

Aha so this is the test kit you use. What's your testing say now?? Same thing?

Thanks Guys.. I ran into the same thing last night when testing... After adding 30 drops I was about to pass out referring to the 1 drop= 1dkh on the paper instructions.. At 15dkh, I still have some issues to address, but def manageable through a couple of water changes..

I know this is slightly off topic, but am I the only one that finds the elos test kits overly complicated (or maybe their instructions very poor)? for years I've used the salifert kits and had heard good things about elos, so I thought I would give them a try...feels like a big mistake
