a 1 on an elos test kit would you consider that high? the kit does not have decimal points on the color chart so it gos from 0 to 1 then to 2.5 and so on.

I'm guessing that the unit of measurement is parts per million. Although we strive to keep nitrate levels low in our aquarium, most aquarists will argue that their coral have their best coloration with a detectable nitrate level of 10 ppm or less.
