Emerald Crab has white film

i noticed my emerald crab has a white film almost cocoon looking around him. it's clear though. is it dead????? if not, any ideas what it is?

yea hopefully it just shed its shell and its gunk build up as the rest rots. they may hide while the new shell hardens. and youll see it in a few days.
