I have been observing the strangest behavior from my emerald crab. It seems to have a fascination/attraction to the condylactis anemone in my brand new nano reef tank. First, it started with attemping to burrow itself underneath the loosely mounted foot of the anemone, and hide during the night/lights off in the tank. I have carefully observed, and it has never made any aggressive actions towards the anemone. But today, I noticed him doing the same, and five minutes later, he was walking around the tank, with the anemone on his back (anemone foot attached to his carapace)! I have never seen this before, and have had reefs for 5+ years. Is this normal/has it been seen before?

That’s pretty funny, do you have a picture? I wouldn’t say it’s normal but if the emerald is staying under the anemone it’s just being opportunistic and attaching to the available smooth surface, in this case your crabs shell ;)
