Looking to help clean up the algae build up in my sump and was wondering if a single emerald crab would be a good option to help keep the sump clean? The only thing in my sump otherwise is Chaeto and Pods.

Emeralds are good for filamentous algaes like hair algae or bryopsis. I would consider throwing a dozen Astrea snails in your sump as well to help any film algae on the surfaces.

Thank you much. I am getting a fair bit of hair algae in my sump right now as a bi-product of the grow light so I think at least for a while it would be beneficial to have an emerald in there, but I will keep an eye out to make sure it has food to eat.

I added him to my sump along with the Astrea snails and he grazed a bit and then disappeared. I do have a small piece of live rock in the section where he is and it is likely he is hiding there. Will see if I can get a vid of him later.

They like to hide but he is probably still there.

I had an emerald in the refugium section of my sump with a few trochus and hermits. They didn't do much so I added two turbos and the sump was very clean in a few days. They started eating my chaeto and almost all of my sea lettuce so I have since put them in the display. Think I will be rotating them between the two as needed moving forward or just go with one.
