Hi, my emerald crab looks dead, but I think it might have molted. Its back shell is opened, so I thought it molted, until I noticed that it has muscle inside on the edges of it, and now my cleaner shrimp is eating its remains. Looks like this:

(found this image online, but looks just like what it looks like now)

Appears dead

Google translate says: It is difficult to know, I have met the mute several times and I have known it because then I have seen him alive.

I have mistaken a molted emerald crab with a dead one many times.
Only way i can tell is crack it open and see if any meat is inside. If no meat its molted, if its meaty its a goner.

If you don't see a new emerald in your tank then it died. If you have a new crab in the tank then it molted

Just wait a few days come down with a flashlight at night when lights out and you will see the crabs . they are most active at nighttime
